Sjöborre de Frida Nilsson

“Sjöborre”(“Sea urchin”) is a carpet totally based on round forms, the outer edge as well as the smaller circles and the centre. The circles are however never strictly geometrical, and the distance between them varies as I wanted to obtain a sense of life and movement. The interaction between playfulness and strict forms is at the core, and I was inspired by objects I found on the beach.

“Sjöborre” är en matta som rakt igenom bygger på runda former, såväl den yttre formen som de mindre cirklarna och mittpunkten. Däremot är det aldrig fråga om exakta geometriska cirklar eller konsekventa avstånd mellan dem eftersom jag är ute efter känslan av liv och rörelse. Samspelet mellan lekfullt och stilrent är central och inspiration har jag hämtat från ett strandfynd.

I am an illustrator and a graphic designer with a big interest in colour and design. Since 2010, I have my own company called Illustraform and combine freelancing and working with my own projects within illustration and design. My wish is to broaden my mind and also work with interior decoration products such as designing patterns and motives for textiles and wall paper. And, of course, carpets.

Jag är illustratör och grafisk formgivare med ett stort intresse för färg och form. Sedan 2010 driver jag företaget Illustraform och kombinerar frilansuppdrag med egna projekt inom illustration och formgivning. Min önskan är att vidga vyerna och även jobba med produkter inom inredning, exempelvis att göra mönster och motiv till textil och tapeter. Och mattor, såklart.
